I don’t know if you like fairytales, but let me tell you a story.
There once was a precious girl. The sun must have followed her everywhere, because she radiated love and joy. There wasn’t anyone around who wasn’t delighted by this precocious curly-headed child. Her family loved her, and she knew that she was delighted in.
Extremely talented and good at everything she tried, she naturally pushed herself to become the best. She was pretty much the best at everything-and this made her feel secure.
Then, it happened.
She woke up one morning and realized that her fairytale life didn’t exactly look like she had planned. So many dreams and expectations were so far from being fulfilled. Where had she gone wrong? It was in this moment she decided that she was unhappy, and desperately searched to fill the ache inside.
She searched and filled herself with things of the world. They numbed the ache for a little while, but then she needed more. So she began to fill herself more and more. More attention. Less food. Anything to feel loved and appreciated.
After frantically filling herself for years, the little girl finally broke down. She didn’t know what to do anymore-she was exhausted.
Then one night, He came.
She had known Him in her childhood, and even loved him dearly then. However, He had gotten lost somewhere along the way-the things of the world seemed so much better than what He had to offer.
He called her name gently one night in July-she knew that this was it-she could hold onto all of the weight, the pain, the suffering, the heartache, or she could give it to Him. In fact, he begged for her to let go.
She decided to let go, and her life was forever changed. No longer did she need the approval of the world, she only longed for His touch, His presence and His love.
His love has changed her, and she is forever grateful.
